Could be various reasons, have you tried saving any images with another browser?
This so we can narrow down if it is due to Firefox or actually Win7

Any luck with downloading in a different folder? This is what I had to do when my firefox would hang. You go to Tools-Options and select the General panel. Here, in the "Downloads" are, pick "Saves files to" and click "Browse". Now you're in the window for "Browse For Folder". Just pick a new folder location. Select OK and close the window and try saving an image again.

Have you tried deleting your history too? Tool~>Downloads~>Select CLEAR LIST

If still no luck, you can always try renaming your profile folder.

Close Firefox first. Then, go to your user profile folder. In Windows 7, you should be able to get to it by selecting START and typing this in: %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

You'll see more than one but you only want to pick the one with "default" in it. Replace
"YOURUSERNAME" with your user name. Now you can delete the downloads.rdf file. After that, restart firefox and see if that helped.

Hopefully you only have to do one of the first two to fix the problem

Firefox hanging when saving an image seems to be a common problem

    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_cr...en_downloading

    fromt eh site above:

    Crash when downloading

Try clearing the download history. In the Firefox menu, go to "Tools -> Downloads" and click "Clean Up" (Firefox 2) or "Clear List" (Firefox 3). In Firefox 2 and below, you may need to exit Firefox completely and delete the downloads.rdf file in the Firefox profile folder (read this if you need help finding it). For more information, see Unable to save or download files.
seen from other responses on TechSupportGuy deleting the "downloads.rdf" file works

The 'CLEAR LIST' choice crashed it.

    I get this:

    What do i do?

EDIT: Sorry, im one of those people that need step-by-step instructions. Just the people i took my laptop to where no help what so ever, so i wanna get it right first time around.

Did you click on that folder? Then try to change YOURUSERNAME to your name.

Sorry, "downloads.sqlite" is where the downloaded history stuff is stored instead of "downloads.rdf" in Firefox 3+. Delete that and see if that helps.

There is no file in %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ called YOURUSERNAME or anything with my computers name on it.

I deleted downloads.sqlite but makes no change.

So none of the options helped...The fact that your FF is crashing when you try to clear the history is odd If it was a corrupt file, usually the deleting of the history works.

Have you gone as far as uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox? Maybe you should consider scanning for any viruses or malware then.

    EDIT:

I did extra research and found something about extensions issues. It might be worth looking into if the other options aren't doing you any good still: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_d...tension_issues
