Irc help please

I have no clue how to use IRC and I have tried tutorials over and over again but I just don't get it...
Could some kind soul take pitty on me and whoever else needs this and explain how to use irc in a nice and easy way? Please?
I would like to use IRC to access the-evil-empire and other places that have downloads.

Why don't you try it, step by step, and see if you can get to Aarinfantasys channel? If you manage to go there without problems, you can go anywhere in the same way. (And Twilight is always more than happy to help new IRC-users there.~)
