I have recently downloaded a avi file. It can play using window media but when i try to convert the avi file to mp4 using AnyVideo Converter, it has a error message "Cannot find media info". I have downloaded all the codec but I still cannot convert the file.
Please help. :(

Most of the time, it would not convert as avi is just the general term that includes Xvid or DivX, so can I suggest using another program like this one - http://www.mediafire.com/?dnwtyv2imin? :shy:

Maybe the file is fake? I don't remember if there was a message which came up when I tried to play the file. For example, I downloaded a movie but it was fake - it was still 700 mb, but still couldn't play.
The file may have undergone some kind of minor corruption to something like the index or the fourcc code. Is there a checksum embedded in the filename (it's usually near the end and looks like a jumble of numbers and letters between square brackets--most fansubs have them)? If so, you could use a program like ISide or Advanced Hash Calculator to make sure the actual file CRC32 checksum matches it--if it doesn't, you've got a corrupt file and should redownload.
Do you know what codec (xvid, h264, whatever) was actually used on the video? If you don't, I'd test it using something like YAAI.
