Can you say what exactly are the options you have set?
Anyway, just adding my two bits before that - If you're using Nero Burning ROM, you have to change the burning device from CD to DVD. Add your files as usual and then click on burn. There, disable virus check and try simulating and burning with a 4x speed.
Which options exactly
Btw does having a low memory do anything to the burning process
I have that problem too but a friend of mine said it was because Nero isn't good when transcoding the videos from avi to mpeg.... When I tried to burn a dvd with avi videos the video was really slow.... He uses at least 3 programs (one to transcode, another to make the menu and Nero) to burn decent DVD.... It's too much trouble for me so I just gave up trying to do that XD
But don't be like me!! If you really want to, you can do it! Just have patience!
Hmmm well I'm not sure how come it doesn't work for you, I spent all week burning .avi files on DVDs with it and it works like every other Nero program, nothing special to do or anything :-k
Unless you're trying to copy an actual DVD movie with it?
I tried using Nero to burn my .avi and .mkv files on DVD, but my Nero doesn't want too... And to do it another way is too troublesome so I only watch them on my computer. I burn them on DVDs as "data" to backup them only (not watchable on TV however).
If you are converting it can take hours depending on your computer's speed. In the past, the process could take up to 30 hours! I recommend ConvertXtoDVD, it's faster and has better filters.
@Yuu_chan: You mean I have to convert it into mpeg first
@Munemasa: Wow 30 hours O_O
Is it a free softwhere. Where can I get it
Yes your CPU and Ram does effect the speeds of Movie decoding and then burning on Nero and well any other programs. As Decoding and recoding video is the most demanding task for a computer.
Ps. how much memory (i.e. cpu and ram do you have?) I have an old P3 2.8 gb and 1.5 gb DDR ram. This takes like 2 hours on average to make a Video DVD with menus and all (Note: I am using Nero 7 Ultra... upgrade for free :yay:)
Ps. Try setting your burn option into Low prioity during the decoding stage. This helps.

Well, it's not free. The not payed version displays an add on your encoded DVD. But... there are always a way to handle that... o;O'
