Kinbaku Ouji (Death Note doujin game problem)

Please don't kill me if this has been posted before. I hardly ever come here and I searched all threads possible and found no solution.

I just downloaded the Death Note doujin game Kinbaku Ouji and unzipped all the files. I made sure my language settings were set to Japanese and clicked on the .exe file. Still all I got was a black screen and if I hit too many keys it crashed. What gives? I should add that I'm running Windows 2000 Professional.

Please if anyone can help me I would appreciate it very much.

Not sure if u can run Japanese programs under windows 2000. If Windows 2000 supports Japanese language (not just providing u with an IME) then u should see Kinbaku Ouji file directory displayed correctly in Kanji, the .exe should also be in Kanji, is that so under Windows 2000?

If you still get black screen and the game doesn't run , change your file with Kanji to English language all.
*I don't guarantee this method can help you 100%, but try to do it.*

Yes, I see the Kanji, both in the directory name and the .exe name. It's not gibberish. But when I click on the .exe the header of the window plus the error messages etc. appear in gibberish.

St_Migael, what do you mean? Should I rename the folder/file? Or is there another way to make it English language all?

anyone help me please?
i have change the titels into english but i can't get trought the game, it allways break down at the first picture when i start the game and i get a 'no signal' warning. what can i do?

I'm sorry if I'm a major idiot, but how do you change your computer's language to Japanese? I use Windows xP and the language is currently set to portuguese ( since I'm from Portugal )

...But that's not much necessary. Rename files and folder(include .exe too!) that are Jap to Eng.

Here is what I did that worked for me:

I more like added Japanese to my computer, not changed the language to Japanese. I followed these directions: http://blgames.ukepile.com/install/i...204e315dde#jap

Then when the name of the file and the folder the file are in changed to kanji instead of gibberish ( St_Migael: gibberish means nonsense characters, like #$%@^ :)) I went and changed both names into something meaningful in English (Death Note and Death Note Game in my case.) Of course I', running Windows 2000 but it should be even easier in XP since the instructions on the URL I gave you are for XP. Good luck, hope it works.

Well, in the end, everything will work out just fine. :) There're many computer pros (how I wish I was one) who're here to guide new players along or try to help solve any related problems.
A picture tells a thousand words - most games are pretty easy to understand just by looking at the images. There're also English yaoi games available. You may want to check them out.

I was having the same problem! But I changed the folder name and BAM, no more black screen and crashing. Miracle much? I'm so happy for this thread! x3

The renaming folders thing worked out (yay!) but then it froze on the first picture when I clicked on it! D:
...And it's a rather incriminating picture to have stuck on your computer when your mum just got home. Lol.
