Omerta Chinmoku no Okite - Japanese characters not appearing!! Just blocks!

Hi, I'm wondering if you can help me with this error coz it's getting on my nerves here. Instead of japanese characters, what appears in the dialogue box are just blocks! It used to work perfectly fine in my old toshiba laptop, but now it doesn't work at all here in my Asus laptop (both windows 10). I think this also happened in the other omerta game called Code tycoon so PLEASE HELP ME!!
