Extracting Text Files
Does anyone know how to get the text out of a PC or Playstation game? I'd like to try my hand at translating some Japanese games, and the idea of having to play through every scene just to see the script is sort of daunting, especially in multiple-ending RPGs. I know Summon Night's not a BL game, so the Playstation question's just kind of a hopeful aside, but. There's still a lot of PC games around I can work on, I'm sure! And considering I'm an amateur this is basically just an overachieving way of practicing, haha.
Oh, and if this question's already been answered somewhere or if I'm posting in the wrong place, I'm very sorry!

Oooh, good luck!
I don't know how to hook from PS2 games, but for PC games, there's a program called AGTH which may help. It inserts a hook into a process you determine, and it captures text from it. It's usually used in conjunction with text translators to give broken English.
It's a bit confusing to use, but there should be guides lying around on the net.
Here's a link.

Oh no, I was actually thinking of PS1 games, not PS2. Thanks for the AGTH link though, it looks really useful!

Tell me how it goes :P
Also, with hooking into PS1 games, I have no idea how to do it. But if you have an emulator, there's a small chance you can use a text hooker to try capture text. I've never tried it tho.
