Silver Chaos error

I recently downloaded and installed Silver Chaos only to find that when it tries to progress to the 2nd scene (after: the benevolent king, his majesty sergei claudius...provided to every soldier's child...), I get an error saying that MainSystem.exe has stopped working and I am forced to close the program. I've tried restarting it, but every time the same thing happens.

I followed all the installation instructions and the patches works. I think I installed it right, anyways....Everything seems to be working up until I get to that scene change part. As far as installing and playing japanese games go, I've only installed one with assisted help and that was still sort of a fail. I'm extremely tech illiterate and new to this whole thing so I probably did do something wrong. Oh, and I have windows 7, if that's somehow relevant at all.
