Awesome, thanks so much Kojichan. That seems to have done the trick and just as I was starting to give up hope that I'd ever play TnC again. : )

so, i've played all the other nitroChi games completely, and am familiar with the basics of the setup for these games, i have japanese local, and daemon tools, and directX, so i don't think that's the problem. i had played togainu before on this pc, and i even played through a couple routes. but suddenly the game stopped working, and i couldn't get past the install screen. i uninstalled and reinstalled with downloads from 2 different places and made sure it was alowed in my firewall but no change was made. now, after attempting to install it again i get this message, so now i can't even install the game anymore.

please help me unblock whatever this is. i have installed the game on another computer, windows 7, just like mine, and it runs perfectly, but i'm always having problems with just this pc.

Mhh, unfortunately you cannot actually post an image into a post directly from your computer. ^^;;;
However, it sounds like you were hit with the "Windows update that killed Togainu no Chi". Microsoft released an update that disables a particular anti-piracy program from working, because, apparently, had the potential to cause more harm than prevent. XD;;
Anyway, your existing EXE Program for TnC won't work now.
Here is a replacement:
https://mega.nz/#!5dYwnDwD!D27r8LJP6...LANBXHrHqveYhc
Download the file, extract the EXE Program, and REPLACE the EXE Program in the folder where you installed TnC.
For example, I installed Togainu no Chi in C:\Games\NitroplusCHiRAL\咎狗の血\, so once I open that folder, I would replace "togainunochi.exe" with the one from the download above.
The old EXE is 880KB big, but the new one is only 152KB. ^^ Hope that helps you.
Hi everyone,
I've read all related topics on this forum, to no avail. This is actually my first post here so please bear with me
I'm running W7 32-bit with DX 11, and my locale is set to Japanese. I have installed the game, update and English patch properly (running everything as admin, yadda yadda yadda). My install directory is C:\Games\NitroPlusCHIRAL\.
Whenever I try using the original togainunochi.exe file to run the game (or launch the game from the mounted img), I get the "CD missing" error. Unless I'm mistaken, this means that the game is actually trying to access the drive but is being hindered by the infamous Win update that broke the game, which is a good sign (I guess).
However, when I try replacing the .exe file with the NoDVD version, nothing happens. At all. Either that, or I get an error message saying that the process stopped working. I've set it to run as admin, in compatibility mode (I've tried XP and Vista), and yet I'm stuck. I've also set the secdrv start on auto in cmd and modified the "Start" value for secdrv in the Register to 2, but no luck there either.
I'd like to know if there's anything I haven't tried yet, since all other N+C games installed on this computer run beautifully (that's DMmd, Sweet Pool and DMmd:reconnect). I'd like to avoid running a VM for XP if possible, unless that's the only way...
Thanks in advance for any tips or advice, I'd really appreciate a helping hand here so I can FINALLY play this game !

I hope you backed up your registry before doing the edit on it. If you do have a backup, restore it. If you do have the NoDVD version you don't need to configure secdrv.
Also, when it was saying "no cd error" it's not accessing your hard drive, rather, it is accessing your CD Drive and is searching for the Togainu no Chi CD as a form of anti-piracy. You could have tried to Virtual mount the Togainu No Chi ISO and tried opening it again with the original .exe
Can you post a picture of the Togainu no Chi Folder, as well as the compatibility settings?
Btw. Togainu no Chi runs with DX 9.0c. AFAIK, even if you have DX 13, TnC needs the files for DX 9.0c itself since it's an old game. So download from Microsoft the DirectX 9.0c web installer. Link below.
Take note, when you run the installer, it will check whether you have DX 9.0c files, and will download it if you don't have one.

BTW, for comparison: I run Win 10 x64, I did not have to modify secdvr since it's nonexistent in Win 10, but the noDVD patch works for me. I do have the DX 9.0c installed in my laptop.

Hi and thanks a lot for your reply ! Here's my install folder for TnC:

Re compatibility settings here they are, apologies for the French labels though:

That's the first thing I did, before replacing the .exe with the NoDVD version. I wanted to check if it was working at all. I also tried that after noticing that the NoDVD .exe wasn't working. Same issue:Also, when it was saying "no cd error" it's not accessing your hard drive, rather, it is accessing your CD Drive and is searching for the Togainu no Chi CD as a form of anti-piracy. You could have tried to Virtual mount the Togainu No Chi ISO and tried opening it again with the original .exe

I forgot to mention that I'd already downloaded and run the DX 9.0c installer and basically it says that the components have been installed and are ready to use.

Hmm, I'm stumped. I see no differences between my installation folder and yours.
You can try the setting the system locale back to US, then back to JP again?
Try to check if the game runs without the eng patch.
Run it as Win XP Service Pack 3, Admin mode, disable the theme.
It wouldn't open at all and now with the .exe that I downloaded from you. It says;
"Runtime Error!
Program: ... Files (x86)\NitroplusCHiRAL\[some Japanese]\togainunochi.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information."
I don't know what to do about it.
