STEAL! Font Issues

Hi all,

I just installed STEAL! on my machine and I'm eager to play. I followed the instructions as outlined on this site and I tried to look for information on this problem I'm having, but no luck. So, it's like this. The game is running great, everything looks and works great, except for the scrolling text. It's just assorted letters and symbols and gibberish. Here's what it looks like....

I've played with the font settings a bunch but I can't find any sort of answer. Am I the only one who's had this problem?? I had a similar issue with Lamento at first, but it fixed when I ran Apploc as admin, which is what I'm doing for STEAL! now, but no cigar. And yes, my computer's locale is set to Japan.

Any help anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have STEAL! yet on my computer, but I'm in the process of downloading it right now to try as well. o.O Just installed it, and tested it out.

It honestly looks like it's not displaying the encoding properly... This is the Shift-JIS text as it would be seen in a program that can display Japanese, but hasn't encoded it properly.

Quick question, can you see this Japanese text?

深く、深く続く緑を抜けると、目の前にまばゆい光が飛び込んでくる。

And, can you go into the configuration panel, and click on this button marked in this image (Font Config), to bring up the font selection window for me?

Check to see if you have any of the fonts listed in my window, especially the one that's highlighted in blue in my window. Please take a screenshot of your window, if you can. Thanks!
