Please do not hotlink to anything on aarinfantasy's domain. This includes avatars, smilies, PICTURES from the gallery, etc.
Do not post the url linking to the pictures, instead link to the forum!
Right now I am trying to fix the hotlinking that many people are doing from the gallery. Please be kind and don't hotlink.

Baiscally whenever you link a pic or something directly from the site, everytime someone sees that pic that you are useing elsewhere, it's eating up aarin's bandwith. It can be a very bad problem if on big scale. if i want to use a pic thats on a site, I save it, put it onto my geocities page and then use the image from there.Quote:

A picture might not seem very large, and it usually isn't. But it's usually not only viewed once, either. If you take one 100KB picture, and someone's page gets 100 hits, it's already equal to that movie clip. If it's get 1000 hits... Well, then it starts getting ugly.
A question... does this hotlinking problem include our sigs and avas or you are just talking about hotlinking in posts?

no - that isn't hotlinking.
Hotlinking to refers stuff like media or images (downloadable/playable files)
is hotlinking like after you've finished downloading something like an anime and then you upload it onto a video site like youtube? or am i just misunderstanding? not very good w/ technology terms. :(
Nope, that isn't hotlinking. Hotlinking, just like what the other members mentioned above, is media (videos/songs), images under the aarinfantasy domain. Something like www.aarinfantasy.com/movie.avi
Since you used youtube, the file will be on youtube's server. It won't affect the bandwidth dedicated for aarinfantasy.

No, it's the other way round. You shouldn't use pictures/similar things from Aarinfantasy on other sites, like hotlinking pictures from the Aarinfantasy gallery by embedding pictures uploaded on the forum server on your website.Quote:

If you want to use an image from Aarin at a place outside Aarin, you should right-click on the image and click on "save as.." to save it to your hard drive.

Hotlinking from a non-photo storage stie is a no-no everywhere because bandwidth thievery is similar to stealing gas from someone's gas tank.

Please tell them to stop posting aarinfantasy gallery images on other websites and also, send a PM to an administrator to request aarinfantasy images not to be hotlinked there. I guess you can just translate this entire message and PM them.
