I have seen a number of forum members who are banned but I always wonder what are the reasons for the banning.
Is it possible to create a thread on the reasons for the banning (maybe not stating the forum members' name only the reason for the ban.)
With the reasons clearly stated, other forum members will be more careful not to make the same mistakes.
I have been wondering the same thing as well because I recently noticed that a couple of once very active forumers have been banned. I am not trying to mind other people's business but I am wondering what atrocity someone who is very active and helpful needs to commit to suddenly be gone without a word.
Are these bans permanent?
How many rules do we have to break to be banned? Will there be warnings? Are some rules given more weight (for example uploading licensed manga? as compared to posting 18+ pics in your profile page.)
I am asking because I am concerned and not just inquisitive.
one reason someone can get banned even if they are otherwise active and helpful is if they aren't old enough to be here—either they aren't 16 yet, or they're under 18 and have been accessing/posting in 18+ parts of the forum. especially if they're not 16 yet; that's one of those things that people aren't given warnings for because they're simply not allowed to be here at all.Quote:

Me too I want to know the ban reason. Because a lot of these banned people seem to be fine folks.
Please be assured that bans only occur if there is a valid cause for it.
We don't ban users for making mistakes but rather warn them and inform them of the rules so they won't do the same mistake again.
For a ban it either takes a very extreme intended breaking of the rules or persistently ignoring the staff's warnings.
People below the required age will get a temporary ban until they are 16 unless they repeatedly try to create new accounts, then it's a permanent ban. Same with users making multiple accounts.
Creating a public thread with users being banned and for which reason they got banned will look more like a "Hall of Shame" than doing any good.

Well, we really like this forum very much and though we try very hard not to break any rule, we maybe doing so if there are some rules that cannot be found in the forum.

I don't see the point in this, it is pretty obvious why they are banned. Either they are under-aged, or have done some extreme rule-breaking. Or just simply decided to ignore mods warnings. If you have broken some rules, you will either get a PM from a mod about it, or in some cases, a yellow card too. Ignoring these will get a ban.
I highly doubt that there are any "secret" rules. All rules are stated in the Announcement & Rules and it's up to the person if s/he choses not to read and obey them. Everyone should keep an eye on that part of the forum in case there will be updates etc.Quote:

I would suggest reading the rules of the fourm and the rules in each section of the forum. They are in stickys so they are not hard to find.
I personally have no interest in knowing the reasons why people are banned.
If you guys are truly curious as to why those certain members were banned, you can always PM them when they get back or if you know this email adds ask them through there or talk to them on msn/YM/ICQ/skype/etc. If they dont want to tell then dont push them
Oh and as far as I know the reasons to be banned are stated in the Rules of the forum
Hmm, I'm not really curious about why those members have been banned. I'm just curious in general as to what leads to banning. And as far I get stupidgirlang's question, it had more to do with the interpretation and extent of the rules rather than the existence of the rules themselves.
I'm just curious: what are the limitations of banned users? Can they access to the site, write threads and posts, VMs, thanks, reps... ?
Banned users cannot access the forum at all. They can only probably get onto the homepage but that's about it.
@Yav: you do have a point there about it being like a hall of shame, though there were some interesting questions asked, thanks for answering them
Hall of shame *claps with hs hands* please some freaky horror show, look at him he was banend, throw tomatoes and vegetables. Sorry I have a medical condition, I can be hillibilly sometimes.
Although, I do agree with some of the people here that want to know why these people are banned. For example, I saw a veteran member on this forum just now who has done a lot of stuff for this forum I believe and all of a sudden, the person is banned. Now that's a wonder on my part...
I agree that a hall of shame it's not necessary. But I was curious too about the reasons for being banned. I'm glad Yavannah explained them to us.
Yeah I think that a reintegration of these members should be made possible. I mean, they served so long and so much on the Aarinfantasy vessel, that they should be reintegrated. May be a ceremony-thread where they present their excuses should be created, they'll show regret and contrition for waht they did. Then other members (personnally, I'll be glad to do it) will welcome them again. I mean if I was banned, I touch wood, I woluld like to receive a second chance.Quote:

As good as your intentions may be accatone, I'm afraid that something like that won't happen. They may unban someone that may cause them even more trouble than last time. Now, it may just work if they unban the people who have offenses that aren't totally bad but that's just my opinion.
I agree with Suracris: unbanning banned members is probably a bad idea (unless this is a temporary ban until they are 16) because according to Yavannah's explanation, the person would have to ignore multiple mod warnings to begin with... and someone who doesn't listen to the mods to the point that the mods have to ban him/her is probably not going to show any sincere remorse once they are banned. :/
I personally don't care why people are banned either because the rules are pretty clear, and the mods won't ban you without warning first. As long as I don't have any angry red letter mod warnings, I'm doing something right?? :P

I was wondering about some active users being banned too. It would be informative to get just the list of reasons for banning listed, not necessarily with member's names identified
I was on another anime/manga uploading forum and saw that someone with the same username as a user here was banned from that site for stealing download links (I'm assuming that they're posting it here :?) and since that user is banned here as well, that's likely to be one reason behind their ban?
I know that everyone is curious and all but I think this is really none of our business imo :-k
The reasons why one can be banned are all listed in the rules already anyway.
Yeah, seriously. Behave, act mature, be polite -- you won't get banned.
Ok all this "behave and not be childish" (I did it to) is not giving the person the information they want, they just saw something which made them interested in the rule system, as such. If it is hard to find the information then you take the child by the hand and tell them want they need and want to know!
