Disabling front page animation

Because of all the animation that is now on the front page, the forum takes a really long time for me to load. I was wondering if there was a way for users to disable the animation. Thanks!

If you use firefox with addblock, you can simply block the flash image, is what I did.

They both slow me down T.T

Disable or hide ... either way. Just make it not have to load I just want the option ... I'm not lobbying for it to be turned off completely b/c it is lovely, and it's no one's fault that my lappy is crap.

EDIT: The news def. slows me down big time. The site pauses for 8-10 seconds so it can load.

Is there something wrong with it? For the first few days of the banner (along with the news thing) my laptop doesn't get any errors. Now, my firefox stops(not respond) for a long time and after some time it then asks me if I want to stop the script that's causing firefox to not respond.
