    Character limit

    I'm sorry if this has been asked before, the search didn't turn up anything related. Is it possible to raise character limits of VMs and PMs to 5000 and 15000 respectively? I'm not even very active, and yet it seems every time I write an average length reply I run out of characters. I can only imagine how much it must a hassle for people who use VMs, PMs a lot. In case of PMs specially, the limit is really low and as people can run out of inbox space, one would obviously prefer not to crowd receiver's inbox with several PMs when one is enough to accommodate the entire content should limit be increased to a reasonable level. I'm not sure if it is feasible or not, but it will be good to have. Thanks for considering!

    Current VM limit = 2000. I have tested it out and it seems fine as it is because we are trying to keep VM shorter as to not elongate the entire profile too much. For one or two VM is fine but for 10 VMs on a page with 2000 characters will be very long. Spaces are not counted. Advisable to post another time.

    Current PM limit = 5000. Most of the time the PM I know that went over the limit is because they included the sender's quote. This sender's quote is the one that takes up the character limit. Solution is to take out the quote. But sometimes I do know many of you likes to write very long PM even after taking out the quote, and I will agree it's good to set a higher limit. However, I need to check if the database can handle that much because if I raised it, there are more data to store. It's not just 100 people to support, it's over 10,000 people at least we are talking about.

    Personally, I'd rather receive the whole vm in one go, instead of getting it in parts. Because I run out of characters pretty much every time I vm, and so does the people who reply to me, so we just put them in parts. And it's really annoying to cut half off, wait a bit, post it. Every time. It has killed my interest to interact via vm, and I don't do pm's because I'm too lazy to clean my inbox. So I'd really appreciate if it was possible to get it even a bit higher than 2000. ^^;

    Hmm I always remove quotes but at times it's mandatory to quote because conversation is old and the receiver may not have record of it. Maybe you could try 5000 and 10,000 if it's not taking too much load, if isn't doable though, I understand. I'm seeing people mention a lot about VMs too that's why I brought it up for everyone. Is the server load for VMs different if we send 5000 characters in one part vs 2000 each in three? I guess it would be same? In case of PMs though there would be increase in load if people are storing their PMs. All people using VM limit to fullest would be rare and extreme situation since even now not all 10 VMs on each page consist of 2000 char. It comes into play when you start conversing regularly with people. Maybe you could up the limits as test only to see the change in performance and if it's giving hassle, you could roll back. Thanks for looking into it anyways.

    Tried some VMs, and looks okay. I have added an additional of 2000 characters to VM. It was 2000 before, so now it's 4000.

    As for PM, I am still monitoring it and will be taken into consideration since sometimes I do run out of limit myself.

    ^ That's impressive. I consider that I write massively long PMs (I get teased because my PMs are so long, haha) and I have never come across a character limit. Wooo~ Chance to write more haha

    Personally...I'd rather see the VM's kept to 2000 limit and the PM limit raised instead. I tend to write more content in my PM's than VM's....but I'm sure many ppl are opposite.

    On the other hand, I do VM more than PM. It's just that my vm's are shorter.

    I really don't want to see someone leaving a 4000 character vm on my page....or worse, a couple of them in a row. Then again, we do have the option of deleting them, so I guess it doesn't really matter....

    Now that I've talked in a bunch of nonsensical circles, I'd better go..

    That's why I didn't go with the suggested 5000, as I tried... I think 4000 is decent on an average active person's Profile, which normally is quite long in size, and there's lots of blank space around the VM area.

    Thanks for your hard work! I normally go around 2 vms with some people I know. The raise in vm characters limit is greatly appreciated, Aarin-san!
