Suggestion for Gallery

When you upload pictures, uploaders have an option to add tags. You can search tags in the gallery, they can be a character's name, type of pictures, series, etc. It's not mandatory though.

I'm not sure if the gallery can have subfolders in an individual gallery. And of course, smaller galleries wouldn't need any.

Not many people add tags, though. Or like dani said, where the title is something like kjad2342kjdksfd.jpg It's the same with doujinshi, sometimes, where not everyone adds tags and then it's a pain to search for doujins you want to read.

Smaller galleries wouldn't need them, no. But I'm sure the Katekyo Hitman Reborn and other enormous galleries would get a lot of joy and relief from subfolders. XD

If it subfolders can't be made then that's that, but if it's possible that they could then that'd be extremely helpful! <3

Is it possible to request members to add in certain mandatory information on the images such that it will be easy for other members to sort for a specific image in the gallery?

If such information is not included in the images then the images will not be approved, is this feasible?

This way, we may have a more organised gallery >_<.

I don't think I can see the mandatory info-add being successful, some reasons being:

-For older images, there are many uploaded by people who might not be active in the forum, those would likely not be edited
-There are uploaders like me, who sometimes do uploads into a gallery not knowing who the pairing is, but knows it belongs in that series off-bat
-Having to check every single image to see if they have the right info, I might not know if the pairing is correct if I don't know the series ^^;;

For now, I'll ask about the admins about possible sub-galleries

I always thought tagging should be mandatory ... the gallery has just gotten out of control D:

The uploader could have a list of pre-set tags to choose from, based on character.

Just like tags work here, uploaders could petition to have new tags created (for example, when new characters appear in a series; similar to how we add new topics in fiction section). Staff members or member volunteers could help sort existing gallery and "watch" galleries.

Anyway, good news everyone. There is an option to create sub-galleries within the gallery!

Now the question is, what kind of sub-gallery should be added? I'm primarily looking at the galleries listed under Popular. I know some of you suggested to separate them by popular pairings? (disregarding the seme/uke order)

Edit: I made a test of this, there's a sub-gallery in the Hetalia gallery.

So what does the sub-gallery do? Automatically put any picture tagged "America" as well as "England" in that album?

What about pics featuring those two that aren't tagged?

Or a pic that has America but not England?

Or pics that are tagged USA and UK?

I'm just poking at your idea with a pitchfork to try and get all the (possibly nonexistent) wrinkles XD

The sub-gallery works as a regular album, except it's located within a main gallery category... I hope that wasn't confusing XD Actually, the proper term for a specific gallery is a category....

It kinda goes like this.

Axis Powers Hetalia (Main category)
->America and England (Sub-category)

The current images in that sub-gallery have been moved manually by me. Any previously tagged images are not affected in any way by the creation of the sub-category. So when the proper sub-categories are created, they will be manually be moved either by me, or the uploader.

I'm glad you're asking these questions, cause I wouldn't know what you're thinking and seeing as potential problems ^^

Also, if there's anyone who uploaded a USxUK image into the Hetalia gallery (or heck, an other image as a test is fine), can you experiment and try moving the image into the sub-gallery? I have no idea if it's accessible by everyone else.

I'll figure out the renaming of the sub-galleries later, just want to make sure this whole thing works properly.

I made a few sub-categories in the Naruto gallery, a Sauke & Naruto and Kakashi & Iruka one.

If anyone has any particular suggestions for what kind of sub-categories they'd like to see, please let me know~

OH! Question ... I just thought of it

Once a pic is moved to the "sub-category," does that mean it no longer shows up in the main category?
