Links keep downloading?
Hello, basically I've run into a problem where I would click a link, any link, and it would download a file to my pc. I can't explain why it happens but it does every so often. It did it a couple days ago when I was customizing my profile and again on the forums main view page. Here's a screen-cap I took.
http://i28.tinypic.com/ahjq.png I was wondering if I'm alone on this.

I am using IE8 and I am not encountering such issue.
Are you incurring such issue now?

@amatersu: I'm using Google's Chrome brower, It could be a browser problem. I haven't used Firefox or IE in ages. It just started happening about earlier this week, but I'll start using FF again because it could very well be an issue with Chrome.
@stupidgirlang: Yup, it keeps happening but it's not frequent, just pretty random; This is the third time I believe. To stop it from downloading I'd click another link and it would go through then I'd go back to the page and click the same link again and it would work.(weird to say the least lol)

I just checked with Chrome. It doesn't happen to me. Maybe it's a virus? Does it happen for all sites or just Aarinfantasy?

hmmmm, have you try to clear your cache and cookies?
I got the same issue once....and clearing the cache/cookies worked for me.
-
@ Deepseacreature and Amatseru: nope, it has only happened on aarin, but it hasn't happened these past few days so maybe somethings changed for the better?
@Itasasu87: I did actually did a disk cleanup 2 days ago and ran CCleaner and it cleaned my internet cache and all my temp files. My computer has been running smoothly since so maybe it could have been just that.^^

I regularly do a Disk Cleanup, Disk Defragmentation, Registry Cleanup, Registry Defrag, and a Disk Error-checking.
A lot of people don't seem to do Error-checking (probably because the setting for it is pretty obscure. >_>) You can do Error-checking by right-clicking (C:\) drive, selecting the Tools tab, and the first entry is Error-checking, so just click "Check now".
Just like defragmenting, the first time you do an Error-check might take a long time, maybe an hour or so. And it can only check when there are no tasks or programs open, so the checking will happen when you first start up your computer.
I don't use very many outside programs to maintain my computer, and I usually don't have any issues if I do these checks regularly. Hope that helps a bit. ^^

For any browser you have, firefox or Chrome, going into your settings and selecting the option of clearing cookies/caches when you close your browser will help clear space and keep things nice and tidy. Also if you have the option of clearing history, that might help.
It could have been a weird browser problem. Is it still continuing?

This happens to me a lot too, and only on Aarinfantasy. Odd. D:

My guess, it's something to do with the specific php scripts running on this forum.. in combination with a full cookies folder or cache. I've had this happen several times on AF as well, but since I'm not on Chrome.. FF doesn't automatically download the file, instead giving me a dialogue box.
Clearing your history/cache/etc should make the problem go away. If it doesn't, then you're really out of luck, me thinks.
And no, it doesn't indicate a virus of any kind whatsoever.
