The story of Silver Chaos is set in an hypothetical fantasy role-playing game world, which once was menaced by a cruel demonic entity called Hadeus. The terrible war which followed had left many orphans, and one of them is Might. Raised up without his parents, with the only company of his older friend Adonis (another orphan), Might became an ambitious teenager training for his dream to become a soldier of the royal army. One day, though, Might found himself terribly wounded after falling off a cliff while training. Adonis, who loved Might over anything else, used a forbidden dark spell to save his life. So Might's life was saved... but Adonis mysteriously disappeared.
Might will then go on a quest to find out what has happened to his beloved Adonis, meeting a rather wide range of handsome characters – each one with a peculiar personality – who will either join him in his quest or become an obstacle to it. The player, after making the appropriate choices, will be able to pair up the protagonist with one of the characters he will meet. [source: Wikipedia]

Good Game, anyone should try it.
I liked this game but got bored sometimes. The game itself revolves around Might looking for clues about Adonis's whereabouts, but you can not interact with the investigation and the game does not focus on the search very much. Instead, it focuses on the characters as they wonder around, getting to know them. For smut, it has a little of everything I think. (BDSM, consensual, non consensual, tentacle rape, love smut) It depends on the path you go on.
Good: The art and story lines are great, the characters are attractive and there are plenty of potential lovers with different characteristics and personalities that will satisfy most yaoi fans. (there is even an option to get with a shota looking boy, for anyone interested in that). Some story lines can end the game fast, others go on longer. The potential guys Might can end up with are VERY interesting depending on your tastes. There is a character type for almost everyone and knowing more about them, and how Might will end up with them, kept me turning the page and going back for more when finished. The plot is simple and focuses more on the characters rather than the "threat".
Bad: The worse thing about the game was the story dragged on unnecessarily at some points. The boring parts were mostly when the character met or spent time with guys I wasn't attracted too, I just got to impatient waiting for the character(s) I liked to come back in. I suppose Might has to spend time with each of them in order to "get to know them", but I felt that I should have had more power in choosing how much time. Maybe if you use a cheat guide to help you choose the options you wont have that problem, but that takes away the point of playing a game IMO. Oh yeah, and the options didn't give much of a clue as to which guy you would end up with or spend time with. At one point I was sure to end up with xxxxx character, but ended up with the total opposite! (no joke) There were also way to little chances to choose an option (maybe 4-9 options total in a game that can take 30min to 3 hours or more to play if you read everything). There is also very little smut in the game, I don't want to give spoilers so ill just say....The first time I played it I got a decent dose, maybe 4 scenes and it was the shortest game (about 30-45min of playtime) but only one scene was with a character I liked, and it wasnt the character I was aiming fore. Another time I only got 1 scene after 3 hours of play (with a character I didn't like at first) so it depends. There is very little romance, sometimes nothing, though it's obvious when and why the characters start liking each other. (Though it looks like Might is the type of character everyone ends up liking the first time they meet.) There is also very little action.
All in all this was a good game because the art was beautiful and the different characters and personalities were written very well. The plot was very simple but I liked it well enough. This is the first yaoi/anime game I have played so I probably expected too much.
The art and character development would get a 5 from me, the story a 3, the over all "feel" of the game play a 3 and the smut scenes were hot enough for a 5. So ill just narrow it down to a 4. Every yaoi fan should give this game a shot, some people might love it just fine.

A must-have!
I think anyone who is a fan of boys' love games will admit that Silver Chaos is a must-have. It's a very high-quality game, and sure to have something to please most yaoi fans.
Silver Chaos has many positive features. The artwork and voice acting is very high quality, and with over 100 CGs to collect (many of which are sexual in nature, sure to please any yaoi fan) and several different characters you can get endings with, there is plenty of replay value. Features like a CG gallery that lets you view CGs you have already won and the Skip feature to breeze over areas of the story you've already watched make replaying the game even better. And the ability to save at any time, even when options are being displayed, and the fact that options you have already chosen in previous games are highlighted in pink make it an extremely straight-forward play to anyone who can't read Japanese.
But like anything, there are some negative aspects of the game. The storyline is a little generic and a bit depressing, but despite being somewhat generic it is still a a fairly good plotline compared to most boys' love games, and a bit easy to understand even if you don't know much Japanese. It's also pretty short; it doesn't take much to get all the CGs in the game, though I suppose for those that like a quick game, this might be a good thing. There are also a few other minor annoyances, such as not being able to easily stop the Skip feature after you've started it, and the music is a bit bland. Not bad by any means, but there isn't a very wide musical selection and it's nothing that to me would warrant buying a soundtrack. I also find the game is a little over-rated by the fan community; it is a good game, but seems to be the /only/ boys' love game anyone knows about, and therefore seems to have a higher popularity just for that reason alone.
But the complaints against this game are only minor -- Silver Chaos is a good game that really deserves a play by any fan of boys' love games. Also, if you are a fan of yaoi but aren't really into boys' love games yet and looking for a starting point, this is an excellent starting point to getting into the genre due to the ease of play despite being in Japanese. With the fantasy storyline, bright graphics, excellent voice-acting, neat characters, and high-quality yaoi scenes, this game surely has something to interest any yaoi fan.
