Our Road of No Return follows a very basic storyline of two friends discovering their love for each other. The OVA focuses on Amafuji Ken, a dark-haired, brown-eyed skinny high school dropout who longs to tell his best friend, sandy-blond, hazel-eyed Youshinari Ritsurou, how he really feels. Standing in the way of that admission is Ritsurou's girlfriend, Moeko -- not to mention the fact that Ken makes money to pay for his apartment by selling his body to men he meets on the street or at clubs. Ken's parents are divorced, so he lives by himself. After dropping out of high school, Ken gets Ritsurou to live with him, cooking and straightening in exchange for a place to live on their own.

Love fool meets Romeo.

It was just ok... I can see why it was just one episode and didn't continue. The style was more 70s-80s than the picture looks. There really wasn't anything too special about it.

Guy A loves Guy B. Guy B has girlfriend. Guy A sleeps with Guy B's girlfriend to get back at Guy B, or close to him somehow. (I guess to make him despise the girlfriend or possibly make him jealous that she got to sleep with Guy A.) Anyway, Guy B is angry with both the girlfriend and Guy A. But because he grew up with Guy A he forgives him and gets closer to him. Girlfriend still hates herself and then finds out that Guy A stole Guy B away. Ironic, no? Girlfriend hates Guy B and wants him to feel her pain. End.

Love fool meets Romeo.

The essence of this anime is the way the characters overcome their obstacles in the story even though they are sure of their path in life, it's a rocky road between their love for each other and being able to make ends meet in the real world. Ritsuro's girlfriend is one of those obstacles that tends to make Ken's heart sink as he does feel love toward him even though he does things for money that would make Ritsuro blush. It is a highly romantic story replete with cherry blossom petals flowing over the screen to show how much the characters are in love. Many will like the yaoi ideal of innocent male with one who is all knowing in the sensual bedroom department as it adds that sense of daring to the anime as well as how far Ken will have to go to get him interested in opening himself up sexually to him. What Ken does to him early in the first episode is pretty unforgivable though Ken knows why he did it in the first place as he got a lack of love from the one person he wanted to live with and become intimate with.
One of the interesting parts in the anime is when Ritsuro goes to see Ken at the club where he acts as a host, but that is where the fun starts as Ken finds he feels a lot more for him than he first thought.

Not every show has a strong pilot. Cowboy Bebop has a filler for a pilot, but when allowed to continue it became one of the best animes. This is a show that starts off weak, but if allowed to continue I think it could have turned into an interesting show. The anime starts with the lover's triangle of Ken, Ritsurou and the girlfriend Moeko. After a little bed hopping and some crisis, Ritsu ends up with Ken, while Moeko is left feeling like a fool for not knowing. The show ends with Ritsu meeting an attractive student leader who leaves him with a cryptic message about Ken. And then Moeko, who is sacchrine sweet from the beginning, takes Ritsu aside and basically tells him she's going to make his life a living hell for dumping her. And then it ends. ARGH! So frustrating. I wanted to know what Kenny's been up to, and what Moeko had up her sleeves... I gave it a 3 simply because it was an interesting start, and too sudden of a stop.
