write write write.... atm I have 3 ongoing stories and I update whenever I feel like it.... Don't freak about it, just write whatever you feel like, when you feel like it. And update when you have a chap done...

Try not to stress out about it first of all! (Harder to do than say!) I find that if I am stressed out about how much I have to write, I can't write on anything.

Scheduling time to write everyday also helps me.

If I force myself to write on a story I am not feeling, it can actually push me further away from getting a chapter finished. I find that if just sit back and writing on something else, I get more done.

If I just have writer's block, I get away from the computer for a bit. I go for a walk and clear my head. Normally I come back revving to write on what I was just stressing over.

As for choosing stories to update or drop... I don't drop stories. I will finish them... SOMEDAY damn it! *grumbles at self* I hate leaving stories unfinished. But I also realize that I can't force myself to write on something I may have lost the thread for.

    Thanks for the great advice
I do try to force myself to write (its the fastest way to trash a chapter) I guess besides *dropping* a fic, how do you pick which story to update? This is if you have more than one WIP...
I may need to go stealth so I can shop my fav authors *to get my mind off lack of inspiration* (stealth is hidden mode)

Somedays, I open all my WIP files and re-read the last chapter. The story that calls out to me the most, is the one I write on! Right now.. God... I have 6 active WIPs and about 5 more that I get to write on when I finish something. So it can be a painful process. Other times, when I sit down to write, I know what I want to write, so it's easy.

willow i dont feel so swamped anymore!! Gosh i thought only ppl like me w/AD filled their plate to the brim
I'll try it that way, i do have one story *poking me harder* than the others, I just feel guilty when others have not been updated longer...~sigh~ I'll do my best..

Tell me about it! I think that 4 of my active WIPs will be finished soon, which will be a huge relief. (For me and my readers!)

I understand that guilt as well. I always feel horrible when I can't give consistent updates. Which is why a lot of the time, I won't post a story until I have several chapters done.

We-ll, not sure if this applies, but I myself have the tendency to jump around stories, and while writing one I suddenly get some idea for a new, totally unrelated (more or less) story. I simply continue with that story, and if I feel like any of the previous stories is calling out to me again, then I continue that, and leave the new one.
I don't plan to post them until they're done though, so I don't feel any guilt if they're incomplete.

Uh, I guess that's also the reason why I usually don't get anything done, unless I have a deadline, like contests and such.
