Ok, so I'm currently working on a couple of original stories. The one I'm concerned with is my guy/guy one. It's a rather complicated plot but that isn't the part I'm stuck on. I had originally planned on only writing the story with a more "shounen-ai" type feel. But...as I've been working on it I've started to consider putting an actual sex scene in it. Problem is, I've never written one before. I've read porn for years, both het and slash but I'm still not sure about my ability to write it. What do you guys think? Should I try to write smut or should I stick with the light stuff? Any suggestions????

My suggestion would be to try it and see how you like it. I won't hurt to try your hand at writing smut, and you don't have to use it when it's done. I think it's an important lesson to learn when you're writing: You don't have to use everything you write down. (Maybe I should go so far as to say you shouldn't use everything you write down, because quite frankly even the best writers our there write absolute crap on occasion.)

Reading a lot of smut is a big help when it comes to writing it yourself. My first smut scenes were based off the few hundred fanfics I'd read in the months prior to my attempt. Actually, I still base most of my smut of things I've read. Sometimes I find things I want to use, and other times I find things I definitely don't want to use. (I've developed an aversion to the word "bobbing" in connection with blowjobs for example.)

So, yeah, I say you should try it on for size. Maybe you'll like it, maybe you won't, but the best way to find out is to do it and see what happens. And if you get stuck you can always post here again to ask for help.

I just found this group and just joined. So hi all! But I totally could not help but laugh and smile at more than one of the anxiety points ya'll pointed out. I totally get stumped when it comes to writing those smutty scenes. It's like, Ive done that before, and that. How do I make it unique and interesting without repeating myself? There's only so many ways you can describe a penis without dipping into the cheesy stuff. ^-^;;; Sorry but its true. There are a lot of words out there to describe a man's equipment but they tend to run in the cheese department. There's also only so many ways you can say push, pull, etc. I saw several good suggestions in this thread and it will really help me on my next smut scene I write.

I like to hear different suggestions on where, when, and how the main characters have sex. Because with the many many story ideas floating around in my head they get jumbled and tend to always wind up in a tangle of limbs on the bed. To me, romantic is in bed, in the middle of nowhere staring up at the stars, and other places like that. Not romantic, but raw passion is something like in a janitor's closet (lol), in the back seat of a car, hurried on the boss's desk, in a bathroom....all of those are more for the quickie moments.

Does anyone that writes fluff/romantic stories tend to find that it's hard to write them saying dirty things to one another without it seeming kind of....wrong? I just can't seem to bring myself to write things like '**** me', 'suck me', etc when they're supposed to be in love....It's almost like a respect thing. lol.

Okay, I think Ive rambled enough. *bows* Thank you for listening to me. Or reading me, lol. whichever way you wanna look at it.

Writing smut is easy for me. Just don't jerk off and you've got a pornocopia in your head. If you're horny while you're writing smut, you'll know what your intended readers are going to be feeling and wanting. As long as you're not the kinda person who faps off to cheese, you'll be fine writing porn'.

For me writing smut is a process... I don't write it first, I kind of make myself dream about it. Like I'll sit and zone out when I have the time, and play it like a movie how I want it to go. Then I add words and try to be descriptive and non-repetative... I do catch myself a few times, though. My hardest thing about fluff smut is when they orgasm O.O My usual words are, for fluff: Climax, release. lol. When I'm just writing hardcore smut: Cum, climax, release.

Setting the scene pre-sex is a good idea, with little reminders of where they are inbetween ("He curled his fingers into the thin sheets of the bed"...) but also of the characters. Assuming, most of the story most of their body has clothing on... Imagery is very important. I still suck at it, but I try to go back and add things in. Rereading is important, not only for typos but also runon sentances or adding details. My biggest thing is I get so into writing a scene I begin to think, "Am I going too far?" so I stop, I go do something else and I come back a few hours later and look over it again... "Does it need more or less?" And then I change some things.

It takes longer to re-read and stuff like that, but it's more likely to help improve the story. Writing is a developmental process. The longer one spends time working on something, the better it can be.

Reseach on the anatomy is important too. I was young when I started getting into yaoi, and I'm not lying when I thought guys had a second hole. Then I finally googled it and was like, ...oh. anatomy can help improve sex scenes as to detail, like as to where/what the prostate gland can do during sex/foreplay... as well as various parts of the male body.

I know we're not supposed to "roleplay" HERE on the forums, but I like PM or even stories over instant messenger (pick your poison) AIM, Yahoo, Google, MSN, Skype... I'm into dirty romances, I love the "smut" writing I've seen mentioned here -- but always with a good story to back it up. I love to torment my characters but I enjoy invigorating passions as well. I was hoping for a yaoi 1x1, and where better to look than a yaoi website?
