hello is anyone home? *leaves muffins* see ya later.

Here..<--Ferus is this still how you develop your characters? I do something like that, but always thought I was doing something wrong. =3 Is it still true today?

That thread is the "Ridculess" Character sort of a "map/outline" on how to develop a character. I've tried it, as I go along I keep getting flashes of things I want to word into the story. However, I've forced myself to develop each character before I type out anything for the story. O_o what do you guys/persons think?

Hehehehe. I kinda forgot to leave a welcome note to everyone.

Welcome to the "Write it out" writers group!
The name comes from my most hated and loved tip when you're wondering what will happen in a story and/or how the characters might handle it. "Just write it out and you'll see."

I hope this group will be fun and helpful to everyone! Like the description says feel freed to talk about anything. Just do please keep it 17.9 so all the writers who've yet to turn 18 can join in too.

Cris, I still develop the characters in the same way. I meet and greet them in my head and learn stuff about them that way. Mostly by putting them in situations where they have the opportunity to tell someone else about themselves. And I only find out what they want to tell the other characters.

I frequently start stories with just an idea of what the characters are like and just go from there. For NaNoWriMo last year (*gasp* January already) I started out with two first names and one last name and just an idea of what the guys were like. I probably have to scrap half of what I wrote during November, but I certainly learned a lot about the guys as I went along.

I've tried doing the character questions, but they don't really work the same for me. I have on occasion used the questions as a way to organize the information I already have of the character, but I have yet to discover anything about a character by using a sheet like that.

The character questions are a brilliant thing for a lot of writers, but even if you never use them you aren't doing it wrong. I believe there is no right or wrong way to develop a character (or world or story). There are just different ways. The trick is to find the way that works for you and that you have the most fun with.

I hope that made sense. I should have been in bed an hour ago. The lure of Aarin was too strong for me though.

*hangs head* Even though I am on vacation... I can't seem to stay away.

Thanks for creating this group Ferus!

I am pimping two things tonight! One is my new original WIP 12 Months, which finally is getting to be written thanks to an awesome ongoing challenge: Random Words Fiction Challenge

Thank you for creating another writer's group.
*has nothing to pimp* Apparently I'm still nursing writer's block from NaNoWriMo. I really need to get off my lazy butt and write something.. anything. *cries*

@loveusender: I know a lot of people say not to do to much research because it may stunt the creative flow, but have you tried looking into the particular era. Maybe looking up traditions or perhaps just the basics of what was going on during the time period. If nothing else it may give you more of a setting that you can weave your story idea into. I don't know if that will help, but its what I would normally do when writing a period fic. Or maybe you've already done that. >_<

melody: did you manage to get to 50000 words in nanowrimo? i must confess i only made it to 500 i dont understand how people even managed to get 50000 words. so difficult!

@ghettoe: I only made it to a little over 42,000.. I was so close, but I just ran out of time. There was about a week when I didn't write anything because I couldn't figure out what to write, so I'm actually surprised that I made it that far. It really is a horribly difficult challenge so you shouldn't feel bad. This was only my first year trying, maybe next year we'll both have a better chance.
