This kind of goes hand in hand with Funny Moments, but I wanted to post this up because even though my cats can be funny, they mostly do odd stuff as if it's a ritual. Odd as in normal, but don't know what to make of it or why they do it. When Yuki was first given to me, she was extremely timid, but once night fell and I had to go to sleep, she wanted under the blankets to cuddle. She still does this, and while I find it comfortable I have to wonder how on earth she can breathe when her head is at my feet and her bum at my knees. Because I worry too much I usually drag her out or get her head to my chest area at least. Another thing she's always done was paw and scratch around her food bowl, but she always does it to my plate of whatever I'm having whether she likes it or not. I know now that she's marking her territory (my plate is not yours Yuki!) but I still find it a bit odd, especially when it doesn't ward off other cats. Munchkin blatantly ignores the scent and just eats her food. Recently I found that Yuki also likes lemonade. She likes lemonade so much that if I say the word, have a bottle of any kind with me, she whines for it, which is the loudest I've ever heard her. She also likes Arizona Mango. Munchkin won't even go near lemonade so it's definitely a Yuki thing. '
My Bastet also crawls under the covers with me It's funny to see her pawing methodically at the sheet while her head pushed up the blanket so she can wiggle in under there I love it during winter; that warm ball of fur helps keep me warm! About the scratching thing, my Nefrit does it, too, but only for her water bowl. I have to put a sticky mat under the bowl so that it doesn't splash water onto the wooden floor when she paws at it. I always thought that she was trying to make the water "move" because cats supposedly prefer fresh water. She also dumps her toys in her water bowl, too, though, so... Lemonade, eh?! That's an odd one Bastet will eat all kinds of stuff: noodles (she loves lo mein), rice, and chips are her favorite. Doritos are her favorite chip (not that I eat such stuff often) because they have cheese on them, and she also loves cheese. Nefrit is less likely to eat people food, unless I set it on a plate and let her eat it herself. She will eat shrimp and fish (of course) but she's also lapped up my gumbo before. Seafood gumbo, that is.
Yeah - I don't allow Chief into my bed, at first because I've never allowed my cats into my bedrooms, I don't really know why but my bedroom has always just been 'my space' no one else allowed, but now well whenever I relax by laying out on the couch he immediately tries to sit on my face ... I do not want my cat to suffocate me during my sleep! But he has a lot of just plain weird habits: 1. He eats plastic bags. Seriously he EATS them, I don't know why - the vet says he's fine but the minute I put a plastic bag down somewhere (even if I think I'm being sneaky by putting them up high out of his reach) he finds a way to reach them then starts by ripping bits of off them, chews then swallows ... WTF?! 2. If there is more than one person in the house he will try to sit on all of our laps. If we sit next to each other he will stretch himself out so that he is laying on top of both people, the funniest moment was when there where three people sitting next to each other - he will try to get across all three laps! If you sit separate he will work his way round all of you in a 2 minute rotation. 3. He grooms me. Oh yes.
My kitty, Artemis (hi Artemis up there ^), grooms me as well. She doesn't do it as much as her kitten did (when I was fostering her, before she got adopted). I have a self-shot video of Atti on the back of the couch and grooming my head and me laughing hysterically because it was super ticklish. I miss her! But mommy Artemis definitely crawl into bed with me and spoon tightly against the curve of my belly. I have to keep a hand to prop up the blanket because I don't want her to suffocate! Too bad she's still young enough to be SUPER active, so the most she'll sleep at one time is ~5 hours before she wakes me up at 4am! Do your cats eat watermelons? I recently heard about this crazy phenomenon but haven't tried it with Artie yet. Since I've only had her since last October. The only human food I give her is small pieces of cheese.
