It might be the codecs, try to update them.
If it doesn't work then you will probably need to encode them with the DivX codec. You can do that with the VirtualDubMod using the option "save as" then selecting
"Save as type": Audio-Video Interleave (*.avi)
"Video Mode": Full Processing mode
"Compression:" (click on change and select DivX5.5 codec)

When I was trying to burn a vcd using Nero, a message pop up said 'not enough diskspace to cache file', is it refering to my hard disc space?
is there any other way to burn the vcd without free up the hard disc space? or other software?... coz my total hard drive memory is small-.-;;

but how come there wasn't any problem when i try to burn Data cd and Audio cd?

When burning Nero (and actually all the burning software I know) creates a copy to work with, so if you like to burn 700MB you need those 700MB available in your computer.
Another way to get the file without burning them is to upload them on a virtual disk (it used to be some free now you have to pay) or getting a new hard drive, but I recommend you to clean your computer from the files and programs you don't use an then defragment your disk.

hello malary. i have a question too.

i was using virtualdub and tmpgenc together for making vcd and everything was good. but after trial period tmpgenc turns the avi's into very low quality mpeg's. it says it does not support mpeg-2 anymore.
i dont know how to crack and dont have a chance to buy it. so could you recommend me another free programme what would support frameserver of virtualdub? because i add the subtitles, change the sizes or anyother things by virtualdub.

Yeah, I definitely don't reccomend cracks (it's illegal and it can infest your computer with spyware), but there're several programs that can do the job.
A free avi converter that support mpeg-2? That's a hard to get...

I personally recommend Canopus ProCoder 2, is one of the best I know (http://www.canopus.com) unfortunately the free version is a trial.

But totally free? I know some but I haven't try them so I don't know if they support mpeg-2

Just one question though
If the file is longer than 80 minutes.. How can I cut out the beginning so i can convert the rest 81+ minutes of the movie? And how can i put those files together.

You can use Virtual Dub Mode to cut the movie.
Go to the part you want to start the video, now, there're two bottons in the lower and right part of the screen, they look like arrows. Click on the one that points to the left and you will mark that part of the video as the starting point (offset), the other botton will be the end of your video (offset).
Now just go to File -> Save As and that's all.

But... if you find out the video starts/ends not exactly when you made the mark but a lil bit earlier or late, then you can't do anything about it (as far as I know).

You can join videos by opening the video1 and then File---> Append Segment
add the new video and then the next video.... and finally go to save as. If the files don't have the same framerate then you can't join then unless you reencode them, but that's very offtopic to discuss it, ne?

Hmm...I have a question...D:. I tried converting the OVA The Song of the Wind And Trees to mpeg so I could burn it and upon playing the converted file it I found that it had no sound, just the video... D: (I used a program called "Total Video Converter" to convert it into a VCD mpeg file..) All the other .avi files I've converted before had sound though...I saw a post about virtual dub though but it confuses me...about the audio file thingie...I have Virtual Dub 1.6.15...but have no idea what to do. ): If anyone could help me out that would be great. ^^
