Can't add the accents!

Ok for some reason I can't add the accents into my words...when I want to add it turns like this ´´ or ~~ or `` or ^^
I don't know why this happens?!
I though I may had changed the language of my keyboard but no, it's still in Portuguese! So does someone have any ideas?!
Oh! I though I may added clicked in the Fn key but I already tried and couldn't get any change...so....HELP?!

Hoka-chan - Which version of Windows are you using? And did this start after installing something different? May I ask also what brand of computer you are using?

Possible solutions:

1. Drivers. Check in the control panel if the language installed is the correct one. Reinstall the keyboard drivers and see if it works.

2. Worms and spyware. There are some of them that make keyboards in portuguese insane, bugbear is one. Check your anti-spyware/antivir. A good one is Panda.

I had this when I installed a new OS:

2 solutions: either you hit ctrl+shift
to solve it that way: press ctrl+shift and try again

I think you might have done the above. Your explanation is a little vague the below method is used when doing '+e does not equal é but remains 'e; you didn't add the right keyboard layout in region and language settings under control panel:
go to control panel -> click region and language -> Keyboard and languages tab -> Change keyboards

I have it always set to English International always since that allows the use é è etc.

If she have the brazilian ABNT/ABNT2 keyboard she can't set the keyboard to international english, it won't work. She must set the keyboard to brazilian ABNT/ABNT2. The keyboard is different than the international english and have special keys to special portuguese characters.

Either the first or second ABNT

Maybe OP can open that menu and tell us what he/she has listed in it?

That happened to me too. In my case, it was a worm so the anti-virus removed it and it went back to normal. This was in my notebook.
In my desktop, it was due to some "teclas de atalho". Is your pc in portuguese or in english?
If it's in portuguese and the problem is not due to a virus (which can be removed easily, since they are usually just worms), you can check each section in "painel de controlo" and see:
Formatos --> Formato --> Português (Portugal)
Localização --> Portugal
Teclados e Idiomas --> Mudar de teclado --> Português (Portugal)

I think that solves the problem. Try those 2 options and then tell us if it worked. If it doesn't...sorry. These were just the 2 ways I used already (because that annoying thing is always happening to me >__<)

In my case it was an outdated driver, I have a G15 keyboard and a G9 mouse, updated both. Check both options, drivers ans virus.

Also I'm using Windows XP. My PC is a ASUS A3 *yes old*

As for install stuff...NO...nothing. I'm using Avira Free. This was the report from today!
Here in my report for today scan!

But some days ago!

Oh yes, you're still using XP...hmmm. If I have time to turn my desktop on again I'll let you know.
Anyway, I also found this topic in a site: Double accent problem
There's a program there and apparently it can solve that problem. I haven't tried it myself but you can see if it works on your computer...
