"a debugger has been found running in your system" error

Just lately, my PC been having some weird issues, including Blue screen of death, issues detecting usb ports (mouse, keyboard, tablet, phone, at different points...) and failing to boot to windows. All this since some recent windows updates.

and now, it's working fine again, no more issues in the last 2 days....
EXCEPT
i cannot run Omerta game with my antivirus running.
I get the title referenced error message, saying to unload the debugger from memory and try agian.
When i disable my antivirus, the game loads fine.
when i turn it back on, error message.

My other games are still working though.

Any ideas? I really don't want to disable my antivirus to play it, but i also don't want to disable networking since i need internet access for VNR translations.

I'm running Windows 7, 64 bit os.

Did you do something to fix your laptop/PC?

What is your antivirus? If it's Norton, ditch the thing, get something else. It's been known to be really intrusive.

AVG antivirus. I hadn't changed it, been using AVG for years, and it was working fine with the game until just recently.

due to the issues after the windows updates, i had done a system restore (which didn't fix anything) and done a bunch of troubleshooting steps to resolve the individual issues (which also didn't fix anything that i could tell). but the mysteriously it stopped giving me problems, except for the game not being able to load without disabling AVG...

What particular Windows Update was the problem?

Have you tried placing an exception to the .exe of the game or whatever program triggers AVG so that AVG won't trigger? Also, run it as Administrator.
