Laughter Land Help T_T

laughter land problems

To simplify, my problems are the same as that first poster there. no cd rom doesn't work, nothing happens when I click laughter.exe. And I mean nothing. Not even a black screen >_> It just doesn't load at all. I tried running as admin, tried running in compatibility mode, still nothing. My computer is on Japanese Locale. I'm running windows 8. Worked fine on windows 7 for me(switching computers)... .-. Please help? I'm about ready to tear out my bloody hair. This is one of my alltime favorite games ;.;

...Pardon? How does one install in compatibility mode .-. You'll have to forgive me, I'm still getting used to windows 8 >_> I tried adjusting the compatabilty once installed and set it to windows xp sp 3 as recommended by another thread and.. still nothing. I tried redownloading the game from another source. Uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times. Tried running the game off the virtual cd (using daemon tools lite) without installing patches. Tried with the patches.. argh xD

K so I found a guide on how to install in compatibility mode and gave that a shot, installed in windows xp sp 3. Tried running the game off the ccd with and without the 1.02 patch and still no luck, and no cd patch still doesn't work.

Maybe your copy of the game is bad? Did you buy it, or download it from somewhere?

First time I downloaded it from here O__O The copy that was split up 6 different ways via mediafire. When that didn't work, tried a torrent and didn't have any luck with that either x.x

In that case, I'm not sure what you should do. Do you still have your older computer you can play it on? That's the only thing left I can think of. Sorry.

Unfortunately I don't xD Gave it away to my younger siblings when I got my new one. Aww s ok. Thanks for trying n_n I'll survive without it lol

I also have Windows 8 to test it on but I don't have a copy of Laughter Land on hand right now....

Here's what you can do when all else fails, though.

1. Grab Oracle Virtualbox.
2. Create a virtual machine with enough specs to run XP comfortably and enough disk space for your games. (Just about all virtual novels run on XP.)
3. Install Windows XP on it. Have Virtualbox boot from your CD/ISO and it'll go along as normal. Be sure to install Asian languages support while you're at it.
4. When Windows XP is ready to go and has booted up, go to devices and install guest additions. Follow the intructions. This will allow you to have decent graphics and mouse capture and all the fancy stuff.
5. Have Virtualbox mount Laughter Land's ISO as a CD
6. Install Laughter Land on your XP virtual machine
7. Voila! Enjoy the game.
Option : You can also set up a sharing folder between your real and virtual machines, and can just copy the files straight from there. Convenient when you want to keep your saves.
