Game video problem

Hiho. The opening 'movies' in games freeze at the first frame. Everything works fine, english patches work, scenes are ok, but a series of frames or 'movie' just freezes while the BG music keeps playing. I have this video problem with TnC but I've experienced it before too. I've also tried installing the directX runtime which is implemented in TnC and yes I have the Japanese language installed and the language for non-unicode programs is set to japanese (system locale w/e)

virtual images included in torrent: togainu.CCD, togainu.cue, togainu.img. I installed togainu.img.
