    Shift-Jis?

So I read i had to download this or there would be word wrap issues in Togainu No Chi Translation. I googled this, but nothing came up for downloading. I searched on the forum and found only about 5 results, and in all of them its only mentioned in passing. Can somone help me find out how to get this?

As far as I know what you have to do is install the japanese language in your system and change the language of your computer to japanese. Is what I did. There is a thread in the games area with instructions of how to do it.

Shift-JIS is a character encoding for the Japanese language—a way of translating the 1s and 0s your computer stores internally into Japanese characters. These days, it's mostly been superseded by Unicode, but since Shift-JIS is used for many older Japanese-language documents, you likely already have it installed if you have Japanese language support on your computer. IIRC, Togainu no Chi is an older game, so it may use Shift-JIS internally.

Sorry if I'm a little late here, but I'm having the exact same problem as OP. I installed the Japanese language pack perfectly and I'm using it, but I still have the word-wrap problem in TNC.

I had the same problem, until I found this thread and realized I was changing my display language instead of my system locale, to japanese. Check this thread: http://aarinfantasy.com/forum/f49/t1...-chi-game.html

Or more specifically, this guide: Setting Non-Unicode Programs - Windows 7

I seem to be experiencing the same problem. The only work around I've found is pressing S to save and I can read the text there...but it seems if it is more than 3 lines it does the word warp or just goes under the text box completely. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I am running on Windows 7 if that makes any difference.

I had the same problem until I visited this thread: http://aarinfantasy.com/forum/f49/t1...-chi-game.html

    Update:

    1) Follow this step: Setting Non-Unicode Programs - Windows 7
    2) Reinstall the game.
    3) Enjoy. :P

Make sure to save your 'SAVE' folder (in the game directory) before you uninstall it and replace it afterwards when the game is reinstalled.

    Edit 2:

After you reinstalled the game, your game directory should be correctly named "咎狗の血"instead of "™é‹ç‚ÌŒŒ".

Try following the link above, and change your system locale.

Hey, don't fret! I also changed the system language to japanese with Vistalizator (lets you install the language packs if you don't own the Ultimate or Enterprise version of Windows) and still got the problem with wordwrap and chrashes soooo

the problem was that Japanese encoding was not enabled.
    Fix:

    1. Uninstall Togainu no Chi
    2. Install Japanese Language
    3. Change to Japanese encoding *
    4. Reinstall the game
    5. Apply the english patch

*= in windows 7, under system administration, go to the control panel 'Clock, Language and Region',
    Click 'Region and Language'
    Click the 'Administrative' tab
Click 'Change system local' and set it to Japanese!

    Voila!
You don't need shift-JIS, it is included in the language pack!
    Hope I could help!
