VLC + MKV is driving me crazy >_<

Ahh, yeah.. fansubbers are going MKV and VLC is still stuck in avi.

My problem is, I've been using VLC to watch my anime for ages but.. when watching MKV format in VLC, the video freezes every 5 or 6 seconds. Not exactly the best way to watch a show. I can watch them just fine in WMP, but of course, I can't turn on the subtitles, so there's not much point.

I have all of the most recent codecs, my video card is fine, I have more than enough memory, etc etc. This is most certainly a VLC problem.

So, I need some recommendations on what other players I can use for MKV that allow me the option to load the correct audio track as well as the correct subtitles. Any suggestions?

(I'm using Windows Vista, btw, so no Linux players please)

Only problem with MP Classic is that it doesn't seem to recognize subtitles are available in MKV format. I can change the audio track, but the subtitles submenu is greyed out. Is there a way around that?

Ah, yeah, I had the codecs.. I've had Classic for a while but was never able to use the subtitles.. have found the problem though..! Thanks so much - yay for non-choppy annoying videos~

If you're still looking for an alternate player, I use BSplayer for all my mkv/hd anime needs.

Get CCCP and either MP classic or SM player or simply use your WMP
Been using CCCP for about 8 years now to watch everything I need and no BSing around with needing more codec parts cause some others are in complete (such as K-lite)

KM player is great although i use vlc for mkv
