Sketch idea for mascot?!

So I have sketched out this guy last month with ideas based on various designs from Joberu (Joberu (Chantel Rodeo) - DeviantArt) because I have commissioned her to draw and color it.

Initially, I wasn't sure what to do with him other than just being a character that I had in mind and to print him out for Anicult booth poster (yeah posterboy haha) while holding AarinSecret magazine... but Joberu asked me if he's a "Mascot" and hmm... I was thinking, yeah maybe if he gets a good response. I have yet to think of a good name for him though XD

Here's the sketched artwork (I just used a regular blue ball pen), and doing it real quick... maybe 5 to 10 minutes? But credits to Joberu though because I draw it based on her many wonderful designs and thought it will be easier for her to get my idea this way. How do you all like it?

haha, some people mentioned this sketch to be cute as well but I was trying to get him to look more cool. Luckily, the artist manage to pull that out
Not sure if I am still selling AarinSecret copies anymore since it's not too easy to sell it (with the free download available).

Putting him there in my booth at Anicult as poster boy only for now ^_^;;

Maybe that version can be for just the magazine. Then maybe another version of him checking out the forum on a computer, that can be for just the forum, and then maybe a chibi version or two for other things like a forum banner, buttons or bookmarks that can be sold at cons.

What color will his hair be? I'm thinking he looks like a red head :3

Hehe, I actually commissioned Joberu thanks to you Twinstar! Thanks for introducing her~
Actually he is not the "pair" that I commissioned her, and I have not given her my idea yet on that pair. I commissioned her for two piece of artwork. So one of it is just this one.
Unfortunately, the one above is not red head.
I did think of the name "Aaron" too just because it's closest to Aarin but maybe not XD
We still have two more characters to go.

Now that you mention it, is weird that Aarinfantasy does not have a mascot after all these years, would be cool.

He does look cool! Ikemen... like?

If you want him to look more cool i would suggest to give him more poise, more personality. That sketch for example, to straighten more his neck, if you were looking to give him that kind of look when one lower his eyes and look daring, you are on the right direction. But i suppose , Joberu will take care of that.

Mascot are like toys, so play with him as much as you want/can, chibi version would be ideal (almost an obligation? xD)
To get see him to with glasses would be cool :r
He can be the type of mascot that.. change his hair? so you can try "wigs" on him, (various famous anime items?) but the facial aspect must be very characteristic in order to be recognizable over and over with any change of color or hair style and not to loose the essence.

I am weak to dark hair, but I also imagined him with red hair at first, but not too flashy D:

As if he to be a mascot he can be and wear whatever, a mascot that can be any kind of Bishie, just focus on personality, give him life through his expressions. Give him a name. Oh i thought it would be something Japanese,but also Aaron breaks the mold, so it sound cool too, "Aaron and Aarin" xD

In the outcome.. he would probably look delicious, can't wait to see it.
