Will there be a Season 2 of Sekaiichi Hatsukoi?

There will be an Episode 12.5 (taken from ANN)

The Japanese publisher Kadokawa Shoten announced that the sixth limited edition volume of Shungiku Nakamura's Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi ~Onodera Ritsu no Baai~ boys-love manga will bundle an anime DVD with "episode 12.5" in late September. The manga already inspired an ongoing Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi television anime series and an earlier original anime DVD that came with the fifth manga volume.

The sixth limited edition manga volume's "premium anime DVD" will include the episode "Yoshino Chiaki no Baai" (Chiaki Yoshino's Situation), which is about 20 minutes long. The cast members Shinnosuke Tachibana (Chiaki Yoshino) and Yuuichi Nakamura (Yoshiyuki Hatori) will voice the episode. The limited edition volume will also have an exclusive cover, a DVD jacket illustration by anime character designer Yoko Kikuchi, and a special box. More details will be provided in Kadokawa's Ciel and Très Très magazines.

The main story follows the tension between a newly recruited manga editor (Takashi Kondo) and his tyrannical editor-in-chief (Katsuyuki Konishi) — who happen to share a common past. The media distribution site Crunchyroll has been streaming the anime outside Japan since it premiered in Japan last month.
UPDATE (28th July 2011) from aarinfantasy, this is quite a nice surprise that Season 2 has been announced to be released in the future! Exact date has yet to be posted.

What the heyuck? Episode 12 didn't feel like a final episode at all. Hope episode 12.5 wraps things up better. Though probably not since it will only focus on one pairing while completly neglecting the others.

Hmmm, at least the article doesn't state that there won't be any continuation Maybe the new DVD is only a pre for a possible 2nd season. At elast I hope so I would be very sad if the story ended here...

Thanks for the news!!! I can't wait to know more

I don't think that Hatsukoi is in the same potential situation that Junjou was, in terms of content available to adapt. Junjou had 10, almost 11 volumes of manga to work with in its adaptation; Hatsukoi had 4 (and, well, 4 light novels). While I think there is still some potential for a second season continuing through the content in the manga and light novels, I suspect that they'll wait at least a year or more to allow the author to produce enough content to adapt into a full second season. I don't know exactly how much of the manga/LN the first season blazed through, but it seems like it was a lot.
