moderator for a thread

Hello everyone,

I have a comment/question about the following. I would like to apply to be moderator of these two threads here.

Things can get very busy, especially when you're a student, so I thought I could help out, as I'm on every day. I don't see anywhere how to apply though, I've looked through the thread tools.

Ah, so you have to become moderator of a section of the forum? Did I understand that right?

Yes we have mods that moderates specific section. Mods can be assigned to a specific forum but they have functions to moderate the entire forum regardless of which section.

Actually I will be frank with you and all who have the same idea, we will only select a new mod when application is open or when there is an urgency. Because of some reasons, we don't make anyone mod especially those who purposely asked or PM us... this is based on past experiences.

So I really understand that you want to do this for the good of the forum, but there are specific procedures and activities that is not as simple as it seems, like forum confidentiality and lots more.

Actually, as far as I'm aware, the Official Bishie/Couple/3some claim threads, despite being called Official, are not under the direct jurisdiction of the moderators.

The forum mods moderate the Community Cafe as a whole, and the people who you know as moderators in the thread are just normal members like you and me, and not actual forum moderators with a special title.

So if you're interested in being named Moderator for those threads, it would probably be a better idea to approach the existing moderators of the threads instead of asking the admins and/or mods.

I have already contacted HokaHoka recently regarding this and had suggested the very same thing (since I would like to help out with the threads too). She has sent me a reply but I'm not sure what's going to happen yet.

As far as I know, the project only pick moderators amongst people who are participating in the project and are the thread creator's old friends and people who they trust. I doubt that they will accept someone who they don't know very well to moderate the thread since there are also LJ communities involved (with real moderation powers).
My suggestion is: contact the project managers, try to get closer to them, show that you are a trustable person. Perhaps with time they choose you to moderate the thread. I doubt that would happen soon.
