Age restriction ratings vary from one country to another around the world. Aarin is based in the US, therefore the age ratings should be American, but most BL movies are unlicensed.
In many countries BL movies with little or no sexual nature are still rated R18 because it deals with homosexuality, example: 愛の言霊 [ainokotodama] is R18 in Japan.
Not all movies with sex scenes are the romantic kind too. There is a BL movie that has only one sex scene but it's not between two main characters. It's a violent rape between one main character and a rapist stranger. It's rightfully R18 but it could be misleading for those who look for the romantic kind.
Unless Aarin is willing to develop its own age restriction or sexual nature rating board, there's no easy solution.
