The final decision lies with the admins of course because they would have to implement the feature in some way, but I still want to point out a few things which make it more unlikely than likely to have another chatroom.
We had one and it basically ended like other users already wrote. There was cybersex, arguing and flaming, with the users coming to us for help, complaints and such, with the staff having to pick up the pieces all the time. Of course it is our job as staff to help users with forum issues, but the old user plane chat resulted in so much problems that it was decided to remove it.
There are already several ways to chat in the forum:
- shoutbox (which also allows now to exchange private shouts),
- the AF IRC channel (yes, people still do use it for chatting and trying out new programs never hurts),
- the profile messages,
- the social group messages,
- the whole ChitChat section,
- PMs.
- many users also have chats on services like msn parallel to being on the forum.
And I don't really understand what is meant by "more for the users to use exclusively"... ^^;
