The loved ones (Russian)
Created in 2005 and based on the original manga by Yun Kouga, this anime has very gorgeous, clean artwork. Whether a close up or a faraway shot, the scenes for the most part remain veryZ well animated - unlike even some other new animes. The backgrounds and choice of tones in each scene give the setting a very warm feel and at times can almost pull you right into THE emotions coloring every scene. The character designs are just as lovely as the choices of backgrounds. The art is definitely fits the show, and can be encompassed by one simple word: breathtaking.
On their journey, Soubi and Ritsuka encounter many different opponents and fight many battles. The fighting styles and techniques in this anime are absolutely stunning. There is never a dull moment during a battle. There's always a new attack or method of fighting for each individual. In Soubi's case, the fighting techniques that he uses are always grandiose, pretty and flowing. Though the artwork and plot twists will have you gaping in awe and fascination, the fights themselves will at times, have you on the edge of your seat in wonder of what will happen next.
As far as the storyline goes, every episode goes further into plot development, as well as character development. Unlike many other animes, there aren't any filler episodes or filler scenes. This means that there is always something significant happening that will give you more information related to the plot or characters. The story has moments where you will get snippets of relationship development between various supporting characters as well - breaking away from the plot for a moment to give you something sweet.
The story contains somewhat mild shota undertones. Despite this, even the most skeptical of shounen-ai fans have found it not only beautiful, but very intriguing as well. Loveless is a truly wonderful tale with heart and drama, fantasy and beauty.
It is a definite 'must watch' for any anime fan - especially for fans of shonen-ai. It is certainly worth at least a chance to the most skeptical of viewers. Loveless is just one series you have to watch for yourself to see it's undeniable beauty.
